In June of 2010, Amber left a Marketing Director position at Bard College in New York for the adventurous life of an entrepreneur on Nantucket Island. Initially unsure of what her business would be, Amber started blogging on a self-hosted WordPress site. Her blog caught the attention of others on Nantucket, and when Amber was asked to help with various other business’ and bloggers’ websites, she realized she had found her calling.
By fall, Amber was operating a thriving freelance business under the name of Au Coeur Design. Over the next five years, she expanded her services to website design and development (specializing in the Genesis Framework), logo design and branding, social media marketing, and print design. Au Coeur Design followed Amber in moves from Massachusetts to Wyoming to Colorado, and her client base expanded to include businesses and nonprofits in those states as well as New York, Pennsylvania, Texas and more. Five years later, Au Coeur Design’s team had grown to include several employees, and Amber realized that Au Coeur Design as a brand was no longer representative of the business. In collaboration with her husband, Chris (whom she hired to be her boss!), Amber rebranded and relaunched her business on January 1, 2016: Road Warrior Creative was born.
When not obsessing over PHP functions and content strategy, Amber spends her days chasing after her two young daughters, a dog named Pip and a kitten named Pixel, camping in the Rocky Mountains, exploring Northern Colorado’s many breweries, and fantasizing about Road Warrior Creative’s next big trip. Amber is the main person behind our social media profiles, so send her a shout out @roadwarriorwp next time you’re on Twitter or Instagram.
