Road Warrior Creative’s Commitment to Accessibility

New accessibility statement added to our employee handbook.

Creating a culture that supports a positive quality of life is one of Road Warrior Creative’s core values – along with sharing knowledge, giving back to our communities, and more. These values are one of the ways our agency stands out; they make our organization a unique place to work for team members and help us to provide the best possible products and service to our clients.

Increasingly, we have realized that our core values also encompass a commitment to make the web more accessible to users of all abilities. For a number of years, we have been developing websites with an accessibility-first focus for university, government, and nonprofit clients like Colorado State University and Workforce Solutions Panhandle, among others. Today, I am pleased to announce that we have added an official Accessibility Statement to our Employee Handbook.

In our journey to create the best experience for our employees, clients, and their customers, 2020 is the year in which we’re striving to make sure that experience is available to all people, and we’re expanding accessibility training and efforts to all team members at our organization, in all roles. Adding an accessibility statement to our open-source handbook is the first step in that journey.

Our Company Accessibility Statement

Introduction

Road Warrior Creative is committed to making the web more accessible for our team members, for our clients, and for everyone. More than 1 billion people in the world and 1 in 8 Americans have a disability which may prevent them from using or interacting with the online world in a traditional manner. As a creator of websites, applications, and digital content, it is our social responsibility to ensure everything we build or create is useable by people of all abilities.

Customer Accessibility & Community

We strive to develop products designed to be usable to the greatest extent possible by everyone. This includes designing and developing from an accessibility-first perspective and providing education to clients about how certain elements or decisions may impact accessibility. Building a better, more accessible internet is a responsibility that all humans share and we are proud to provide the knowledge and tools that enable our clients to meet that responsibility. Our goal is to ensure that everyone has equal access to information and tools on the web.

Outside of client projects, we provide free education and tools, speak publically about the importance of accessibility, partner with globally recognized organizations like the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, and create robust internal systems to ensure the solutions we deploy are usable by all. Road Warrior Creative is proud to be leading the charge in making the internet more open to disabled individuals.

Employee Accessibility Resources

As part of our mission to make the web more accessible, Road Warrior Creative is working to build an internal culture of collaboration where every member of our team understands and values accessibility best practices. Taking that a step further, we also strive to select accessible software for our team members to use in their everyday job. Below is a list of the software used by Road Warrior Creative and links to learn more about the accessibility features in that software:
