Tech Jobs Tour is a recruiting event that takes place in cities across the United States, connecting tech talent in underrepresented populations (i.e. women, people of color, LGBTQ individuals, veterans, and people with disabilities) with companies who value inclusive teams.
Tech Jobs Tour events attract top companies and top talent in web, mobile, hardware/software development and more. Sponsor companies include Google, Twitter, Facebook, Apple, and Automattic, among others.
Tech Jobs Tour came to us in early February in need of rapid website development ahead of their South By Southwest launch in March. In a short time span, they needed a website that would convey the excitement of their brand’s launch and support their ongoing marketing efforts as they toured the country, creating inclusive speed mentoring, career fairs, and tech-centric events.
As a lean organization, moving quickly to contribute to inclusivity in tech with internationally recognized sponsors, Tech Jobs Tour needed a partner who could keep pace with their high-speed growth.
Due to Tech Jobs Tour’s short timeline, we hit the ground running, creating a phased launch timeline which allowed us to hit key milestones in tandem with their public launch.
Working closely with the Tech Jobs Tour team, we developed a mobile-friendly website that supported the edginess central to their brand with black and red elements, and included above-the-fold background video to help visitors visualize their events. Following the initial landing page launch, we created custom page templates for Tech Jobs Tour events, which their team can duplicate and customize without the need to know any code, as new events are scheduled. Our goal was to create a scalable, nimble backend that could support the organization’s growth and be easily usable by non-developer team members.
On the front end, we placed a heavy emphasis on website accessibility, ensuring the site could be easily navigated by the portion of their target demographic that may have disabilities that could impact their experience on the site. Features were added to enable sponsors to quickly submit their logo for display on the website and for event attendees to submit resumes for sponsor review.
