We are committed to making a difference
We place priority on giving back to our community, both locally and across the U.S. We believe that businesses can only be successful when they are engaged in making the world a better place. We value the people and organizations around us, and are committed to giving back through teaching, mentoring, volunteering, discounted services, and donations.
How We Support Nonprofits
We make regular cash donations to 501(c)(3) organizations, including:
- The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, a nonprofit donor-supported organization dedicated to attacking cystic fibrosis (CF) from every angle. Their focus is to support the development of new drugs to fight the disease, improve the quality of life for those with CF, and ultimately to find a cure. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation funds more CF research than any other organization.
- Allied Women Entrepreneurs (AWE), a nonprofit started in Northern Colorado, whose mission is to empower women to reach their professional goals as entrepreneurs through education, networking, mentoring, and business development. In addition to monthly educational and networking events, AWE offers a scholarship program for women. Allied Women Entrepreneurs was co-founded by our Creative Director, Amber, who also serves on AWE’s Board of Directors and who donates website and graphic design services to the organization.
- Girls Who Code, a nonprofit organization that offers coding programs nationwide to adolescent girls. Girls Who Code’s programs work to inspire, educate, and equip girls with the computing skills to pursue 21st century opportunities. Girls Who Code believes to close the gender gap in technology, we have to inspire girls to pursue computer science by exposing them to real life and on screen role models.
- Child’s Play, a nonprofit that seeks to improve the lives of children in hospitals and domestic violence shelters through the generosity and kindness of the video game industry and the power of play. A favorite charity of our COO, Chris, Child’s Play purchase new consoles, peripherals, games, and more for hospitals and therapy facilities. These donations allow for children to enjoy age-appropriate entertainment, interact with their peers, friends, and family, and can provide vital distraction from an otherwise generally unpleasant experience.
In addition to making cash donations, Road Warrior Creative often donates website and/or logo design services to silent auctions raising funds for nonprofits or individuals in need.
How We Support Our Nonprofit Clients
Nonprofit organizations make up a large percent of the clients we are proud to support, and we are committed to making our services as affordable as possible so that they can focus their funds where they are needed most – in their communities, working towards their mission. We provide a 20% discount to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations on all products and services.
Pro Bono Services for 501(c)(3) Organizations
Every July, we build one FREE website for a qualifying nonprofit with IRS 501(c)(3) status, that has been nominated and voted upon by the community. In April of each year, we open up nominations to qualifying organizations based anywhere within the United States, who may nominate themselves or be nominated by someone outside the organization. After the initial nomination period, qualifying organization information is placed on our social media accounts so that the “winner” of the free website can be chosen by the public. You can see detailed rules from last year’s contest here.
Previous recipients of free websites include: Fort Collins Montessori School, Allied Women Entrepreneurs, La Leche League of Fort Collins, and La Leche League of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, & Vermont.
How We Support the Community
As a self-taught web developer, Amber found great support in the WordPress and Genesis communities. Without the help of many amazing bloggers and discussion forum gurus along the way, Amber and Road Warrior Creative would not be where they are today. In recognition of this fact, we feel it is very important to pay-it-forward and support other designers and developers just starting out in their craft, as well as small business owners in a variety of industries. We regularly attends Fort Collins WordPress Meetups and Fort Collins Girl Develop It Meetups where we are happy to freely share knowledge. When possible, Amber answers questions in the StudioPress Genesis support forum and on the GenesisWP Slack Channel.
Additionally, Amber volunteer teaches a entrepreneurship class at a local elementary school. The rest of our team is equally dedicated to giving back to our local communities, and we do our best to contribute back to the community with how-to blog posts here.
